Details: At the age of 17, John Tartaglio was diagnosed with an extremely rare bacterial infection that left him amputated up to his hipbones. Despite the gravest of circumstances, John triumphed over his disability. While at ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University, he became the first person in history to run and complete a 5k and 10k road race without legs, and he later made history running the 26.2 mile New York City. He graduated cum laude from ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University's College of Arts and Sciences in 2009, majoring in biology.

TV and Book Details: John Tartaglio and fellow ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University graduate Andrew Chapin '09 have recently co-authored the book "From Tragedy To Triumph," chronicling John’s uplifting story of a young adult who refused to quit as he tackled a seemingly insurmountable life challenge. John Tartaglio first appeared on the Oprah Winfrey program in the spring of 2005 and as a ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University student in 2009.
