U.S.News & World Report names ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University one of the top universities in the North with master's degree programs

Image: USNews Badge U.S.News & World Report, one of the first college guides out for 2007, has ranked ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University fourth in the top tier of colleges with master's degrees in the North.

Dr. Orin Grossman, academic vice president said, "This is the 16th year that U.S.News & World Report has ranked ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University in the top four among universities in the North with master's degree programs, so we are delighted that ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ's overall quality is recognized as among the best in the region." Over the years, ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ has moved among the number two, three and four positions.

In analyzing the value of such guides, Dr. Grossman said, "¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University has begun a major initiative to integrate the living and learning experiences of our students while increasing the socio-economic and ethnic diversity of our student population. In keeping with our Jesuit heritage ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ also provides important links between the classroom and the world with internships, special study abroad programs, research opportunities and community-based programs in social justice. These programs greatly enhance the education our students receive, and yet they are good examples of qualities that are difficult to quantify for ranking purposes."

He cautioned that, "While the U.S.News & World Report findings can be helpful as a general guide to quality schools, it is still very important for prospective students and their families to visit universities in which they have an interest. I would encourage them to learn all they can about the day-to-day environment in which learning takes place and the degree to which students receive individual mentoring and special learning opportunities.
