The three-day conference offered the ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ students a unique blend of networking and hands-on experiences, and made a lasting impression.

This summer, College of Arts and Sciences students Sophia Haber Brock ’26 and Courtney Sabogal ’26, and Justin Sabogal ’25 represented ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University at the FUTURE NOW Media and Entertainment Conference in New York City. This event, hosted by the FUTURE NOW Media Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization committed to nurturing future leaders and promoting diversity in media and entertainment, was designed to empower the next generation of professionals through networking, mentorship, speaker panels, and media tours. Student attendees connected with industry professionals, explored emerging trends, and discovered potential career paths.

The conference drew participation from industry leaders at influential companies such as Disney Advertising, Paramount, Warner Bros. Discovery, NBCUniversal, Madison Square Garden, and Roku. During the three-day conference, attendees had the opportunity hear from seasoned professionals who shared their insights into the current state of the entertainment industry, the evolving landscape of media, and the transformative role of AI.

One of the standout experiences for the students was the speed mentoring session, during which they connected directly with professionals across various roles, allowing them to explore a variety of career paths and build valuable connections.

The highlight of the final day of the conference was the chance for students to attend media tours of leading companies. With only 12 people per group, these tours provided an intimate look at the inner workings of major media organizations. Justin Sabogal, who chose to visit Warner Bros. Discovery and A+E Networks, said, “I loved hearing the tour guides talk honestly about what they do, and it inspired me to hear how passionate they were about the industry and about helping young people like us.”

Reflecting on the overall experience, he added, “I had a great time at the conference, and it really exceeded my expectations. Not only did I meet many talented and friendly people, but I also gained incredible insight into the industry I hope to pursue in the future.”

Brock, who enjoyed a media tour of Good Morning America, agreed. “I was fortunate to meet such lovely mentors and fellow students who are passionate about media," he said, "and to connect over our shared experiences.”
