Studio Art Alumni Reunion & Career Panel, Oct. 22

As part of Alumni & Family Weekend this year, the Studio Art Dept. will host its inaugural alumni gathering on campus.

The studio art program will host its first-ever Studio Art Alumni Reunion and Career Panel during this fall’s Alumni & Family Weekend on Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. in Loyola Hall, Studio 8. .

For the special occasion, Marice Rose, PhD, associate professor of art history and chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, and Suzanne Chamlin-Richer, MFA, associate professor in the studio art program, are inviting alumni to participate in short, informal panel presentations to discuss their career paths — whether or not in an art related field — with current studio art students.

“We are thrilled to welcome studio art alumni back to campus to share their career paths and connect with our current students, and with each other,” said Dr. Rose. “We look forward to learning about how our alumni have used their creativity and communication skills post-¼â½ÐÊÓƵ, and of course to seeing them again in the Loyola Hall studios.”

A few of attendees will include Melanie Rice ’11, a software engineer, and Maxine Townsend ’11 whose focus is in higher education. The reunion is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 22 between 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. in Loyola Hall, Studio 8, and coffee and tea will be served. Studios and galleries will also be open with student artwork on display. .

“This is our first Studio Art reunion and career panel in the studio art program,” said Ms. Chamlin-Richer. “We hope to make this a regular event every three years. We look forward to welcoming our studio art alumni!”

Additional Details:

For this special occasion, we welcome alumni who majored/minored in studio art to participate in a short informal panel presentation to discuss their career path—whether or not it is in an art-related field—with current art students. They will appreciate meeting you and hearing about the many possible options. Coffee & tea will be served.
