Boyle ’22 Named NEC Defensive Player of the Week, Haut ’25 Tabbed as MAAC Rookie of the Week

Following a pair of victories this past week for both ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ's field hockey and volleyball teams, a key contributor from each club has been rewarded with a weekly conference honor. Mackenzie Boyle ’22 was selected on Monday as Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her role in two shutouts for the Stags’ field hockey squad, and Mikayla Haut ’25 was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on Tuesday after two 3-0 road victories on the volleyball court.

On the field hockey pitch, Boyle anchors a defense unit that has not allowed a goal in the last 131 minutes of action. This past Friday, the Stags shut out Rider – the NEC’s top scoring team – by a 2-0 count and then held Sacred Heart without a shot on goal in Sunday’s 3-0 victory.

With the pair of wins, ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ stands as the last remaining undefeated team in NEC Field Hockey at 3-0 in conference play (7-6 overall). The Stags trek to Staten Island on Friday to face Wagner at 3 p.m. in another NEC showdown before returning home to University Field to host Hofstra in non-league play on Sunday at 1 p.m.

¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Volleyball continued to roll through the MAAC with a sweep of the annual New Jersey road weekend as Haut averaged 2.80 kills per set and chipped in six digs and a block in five sets of work. She had four kills and two digs in the Saturday sweep at Saint Peter's before her 10-kill, four-dig showing in Sunday's straight-set win in Lawrenceville.

The Stags went on to add another three-set win on Wednesday at Siena, to improve to 8-0 in the MAAC. After sweeping the three-match road trip, ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ will now play six of its next seven matches in the state of Connecticut, beginning with an Oct. 16-17 series at the RecPlex against Manhattan and Iona. First serve on both Saturday and Sunday is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Admission to all ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Field Hockey and Volleyball home matches is free for all fans. Visitors are reminded that masks are required indoors – regardless of vaccination status – at all on-campus venues.
