¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University is once again a proud sponsor of the annual Faxon Law ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Road Races. Show your Stag Spirit and today! There are races for all ages and all levels of runners with the Half-Marathon and 5K, Lucas Challenge, and Lil’ Stags Kids Fun Run.

The Faxon Law ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Road Races are back and in-person this year, after the event was held virtually in 2020. The state’s running community will reconvene the last weekend in June at ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s Jennings Beach for three great road races: a 5K and Lil’ Stags Kids Fun Run on Saturday, June 26, and the signature Half Marathon on Sunday, June 27. The “Lucas Challenge” invites runners to complete both the 5K and the Half Marathon events over the weekend.

The fun begins on Saturday, June 26 beginning at 8:00am, at the start of the fast and flat shoreline 5K (3.1 miles). A new 5K course has been designed this year to allow for a socially distanced start.

The 5K will be followed by the Lil’ Stags Kids Fun Run at 9:00 a.m., hosted by ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University. Children will be greeted by Lucas the Stag, the University’s mascot, who will cheer them on as they race to the finish of the ½-mile route. All children will receive a t-shirt, race bib, and finisher’s ribbon; the Kids Fun Run will end at the same finish line used by the adult runners. ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University has graciously covered the Lil' Stags Kids Fun Run entry fee for all ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ residents, as well as children of University alumni, faculty, and staff.

Finally, on Sunday, June 27, the signature Half Marathon will start at Jennings Beach at 8:00 a.m., featuring a scenic course that traverses the shorelines of ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ, Southport, and Westport.

Safety is the Faxon Law ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Road Races’ top priority this year and the event plans to exceed all state and local safety guidelines to ensure the health and safety of participants, volunteers, race staff, and community members. Updated safety measures include limiting the Half Marathon to 2,500 participants and the 5K to 1,500 participants. Participants will line up, socially distanced, based on their estimated pace time for a rolling start for all three events. Masks are required; participants may remove their masks while running but must wear them when passing others on the course and in the start and finish areas. Numerous hand sanitizer and washing stations will be on site. On-course water stations with single-use bottles and pre-packaged grab-and-go food bags & bottled water will be available at the finish line.

“The ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Fire Department is thrilled to have the 41st annual race back in-person this year,” said John Calandriello, race president and ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ fire lieutenant. “We are confident we can provide a safe experience for participants and bring much-needed fun and excitement back to our town.”

Long-time Faxon Law Group sponsor Joel Faxon is also “looking forward to having runners back on the start line and supporting this great community event that raises thousands of dollars for a number of local non-profits.”
