Two ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University alumni are headed to new locales to continue to their professional playing careers. Soccer standout Nikki Stanton ’13 has signed a contract with the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), and basketball big shot Jonathan Kasibabu ’19 has been drafted by the Austin Spurs of the NBA G League.

For Stanton, the new deal in Chicago marks a return to the American pro soccer circuit after a season with Norwegian club Klepp IL. The former three-time All-MAAC First Team honoree previously played four seasons with Sky Blue FC of the NWSL from 2014-18 and competed for the Red Stars in both 2018 and 2019.

The 2019 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year as a senior with the Stags, Kasibabu was selected by the Austin Spurs in the first round of the NBA G League Draft earlier this week. He spent his first professional basketball season in the league as a member of the Long Island Nets, averaging 7.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
