The town of ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s One Book One Town selection for 2021 is Punching the Air by award-winning, bestselling author Ibi Zoboi, and prison reform activist Dr. Yusef Salaam of the “Exonerated Five.” This is the story of a tragic event leading to an unjust imprisonment and its impact on family and community.
Both authors will host a virtual talk on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 7 p.m. and registration for the event is now open. Copies of Punching the Air are available for students, staff, and faculty in print at the DiMenna-Nyselius Library. Copies of the book can also be borrowed from the ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Public Library or purchased at the ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University downtown bookstore.
One Book One Town book selections are made each year by a committee comprised of members of the ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Public Library, the Pequot Library, ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University, ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University Bookstore, and ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Public Schools. This is the 13th year of ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s One Book One Town author event and town-wide community read.
Leading up to the author event on March 2, the ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Public Library will offer additional programming including the One Book One Town writing contest. For details visit .
