Tues., March 8:
In “Race, Liberty & Justice: Diverging Perspectives With Eyes on the Prize,” these two public intellectuals and thought leaders will share their disparate views on how the Black community can positively face its ongoing struggles.
Wed., March 23:
Best-selling author and New York Times opinion columnist David Brooks will be joined by ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University Student Association President Tyler Heffern ’22 for a cross-generational conversation about “Democracy: Choices and Challenges.”
Thurs., April 28:
The Bank of America Women and Leadership Series will welcome Pulitzer Prize-winner Isabel Wilkerson, author of the New York Times best-seller Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, for a discussion titled “Caste: Examining Race, Culture, and Consequences.”
As the 25th OVF season unfolds, art history professor Philip Eliasoph, OVF program founder and moderator, reflected on a quarter-century of opinion-shaping, “life of the mind” programming that over the years has brought to campus candid conversations with Stephen Sondheim, Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, William F. Buckley Jr., Joan Didion, David McCullough, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Spike Lee, Jane Fonda, and others.
“Our community conversations have highlighted the value of civic discourse, critical debate, and an accessible platform for many artists and thought leaders of our times,” he noted. “Our intergenerational audience of students and ‘lifelong learners’ from the surrounding community has led to many enlightening — and even electrifyingly candid —‘live’ moments in recent years.”
