¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s 50th Anniversary of Women Celebrates Trailblazers in Service

The 50th anniversary celebration continues with the latest installment of Provost Christine Siegel's webinar series, which will highlight women in service to others at ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ.

Throughout the 2020-21 academic year, the University will be celebrating coeducation and commemorating all the women who have made their mark on the ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ community over the past 50 years. On Monday, November 9, at 11:30 a.m., the celebration continues as Provost Christine Siegel, PhD, moderates the latest installment of her webinar series highlighting women at ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ.

Entitled “Trailblazers Blazing a Path in Service,” Dr. Siegel will be accompanied in conversation by Ashley Byun, PhD, associate professor of biology; Tanika Eaves ’96, PhD, assistant professor of social work; and Patricia E. Glassford ’85, University Trustee and GE vice president and CFO (retired). As a core value at the foundation of ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University’s Jesuit mission, each panelist will discuss their unique relationship with service for others, especially in finding and creating ways in which to serve their immediate and greater communities.

Additional upcoming anniversary events include the College of Arts and Sciences and the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts’ Open VISIONS Forum lecture featuring author and New York Times reporter , “COVID-19 Vaccination: How and When Will the U.S. Get It? A Discussion of the State of the Coronavirus Vaccination,” on Thursday, November 12, at 5 p.m., as well as Quick Center favorite celebration of legendary female musicians in Diva Power on Friday, November 13 at 7 p.m.

Also part of ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s 50th anniversary celebration is this year's launch of the Women’s Leadership Council, open to ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s far-reaching network of women – including alumnae, parents, and friends. With a mission to strengthen and support this network, the Council aims to sponsor opportunities to engage more women in University activities, promote philanthropic endeavors that support campus priorities, and encourage women students to succeed at ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ and beyond.

Opportunities will include volunteer and leadership positions in the Council and at the University, as well as attendance at special networking and educational events. The Women's Leadership Council is a gift society; membership information will be forthcoming.
