Maria Nitti '21 Earns Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet Honors

In a meet that came down to the weekend’s final event, ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ's women’s swimming and diving team has won its third consecutive MAAC Championship. The Stags were led by Maria Nitti ’21, the 2020 Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet. In addition, Head Coach Anthony Bruno was selected by his peers as the 2020 MAAC co-Coach of the Year, earning the award for the third straight season.

“Winning isn’t easy, and when we needed it the most, our women answered the call,” said Bruno. “The MAAC is getting faster, and this challenge will motivate us to get back to work and fight for number four.”

Nitti won three individual gold medals over the weekend as well as a two golds and two silvers as a member of various relay teams. Morgan Hansen ’21 also posted a pair of individual victories, including a new MAAC record in the 100-yard butterfly.

In total, the Stags won gold in eight events and collected 16 top-three finishes. ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ swimmers set new program records in four relays and three individual events.
