Vincent Gadioma ’22 and Tobenna Ugwu ’22 have been elected FUSA president and vice president for 2020-21.
“The outcome of this election has been the culmination of a wild month of positive campaigning, and almost two years of working with my fellow students. Many emotions are running through my head: happiness and humbleness especially, but it is gratitude to the students, faculty, my faith, and parents that I keep thinking about. I'm greatly honored to be the voice the students chose to best represent them,” said FUSA President-elect Vincent Gadioma '22.
The newly elected president and vice president are very familiar with the inner workings of the FUSA office. Gadioma, a biology major, currently serves as a senator on FUSA. He also serves on the e-board of the Pre-Med club, is a tour ambassador, runs programming for the Honors Student Leadership board, and sings in ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s Glee Club.
Vice President-elect Tobenna Ugwu '22, a bioengineering major, is currently FUSA’s associate director of diversity and inclusion. He is a member of the Ignatian Leadership Residential College program, the creative director of ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ@Night, and also a member of Glee Club.
Rising juniors, Gadioma and Ugwu decided to run because they believed they would be the best voice for student issues. “We are the bridge between underclassmen and upperclassmen alike because of our unique position to be in the 'middle'. We believe that this voice is what best connects us to the students, and this is why we ultimately decided to run now,” explained Gadioma.
As the duo moves into their new positions as president and vice president, Gadioma and Ugwu are prepared to put their campaign platform into action. One of their main initiatives is to provide more support for clubs and events on campus. Additionally, they plan to increase sustainability efforts and tackle healthcare issues on campus.
