Theatre ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ, ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University’s resident production company, continues its 2020-2021 season with a virtual presentation of Director’s Cut, an evening of five 10-minute plays staged by advanced directing students and performed by theatre students enrolled in the University’s Visual and Performing Arts program. In compliance with state and local Covid-19 gathering restrictions, the show’s three performance will be livestreamed via Zoom on Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5, at 8 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, December 6, 2020.
At $10 for general admission and $5 for students, tickets can be purchased online through the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts Box Office at or by phone at 203-254-4010. After purchasing a ticket, patrons will receive a Zoom link via email on the day of the performance. Theatre ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ will also have Tech Support on call to assist customers as needed.
Student-directed and acted productions have become a biannual tradition for Theatre ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ, and this year's Director's Cut marks the directorial debut of five advanced theatre students. The selection of plays encompass a wide-range of situations grounded in human connection, including Hot Wax directed by Kiersten Bjork ’21, a story about the sale of a silk scarf that turns into something more; The Competent Heart, directed by Tracy Ferguson ’22, a tale of bookstore banter that takes on a new meaning; Talking About It, directed by Carlin Fournier ’22, the story of two friends reflecting on their relationship after one of them develops cancer; Contact, directed by Park Lytle ’21, the tale of an astronaut alone and adrift in space; and Undress Me Clarence, directed by Jay Martins ’22, a one-act play that follows the results of a quirky request at a bar.
“The plays we’ve compiled for Director’s Cut cover a broad range of topics and themes,” Bjork explained, “and yet they are all rooted in the necessity and value of human connection.”
“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to tell such a beautiful story about such real people,” Fournier said about his production of Talking About It. “I really hope that the audience connects with all of the relationships and emotions in each of these plays.”
The cast of Director’s Cut features Chloe Cofini ’24, Madelyn Dutilly ’22, Kierstin Jones ’21, Grace Kavulich ’22, Emily Sheridan ’24, Danielle Sondgeroth ’22, and Catherine Zarrella ’24, as well as guest artists Jerome Francisco, Emily Ramsey ’20, and Fallon Sullivan ‘20.
