¼â½ÐÊÓƵ

On Sunday, December 13, 12 teams from colleges and universities across the nation will compete in the Rocket League's winter egaming competition. Representing ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s Rocket League esports team are Matthew Baker ’24, Samuel Martin ’24, and William Duffy ’24.

Teams will compete in a best-of-five game format with three players competing on each team. Seeded #2 in the MAAC, ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ will kick off the competition during the second round, where they will compete against either DePaul University or St. John’s University.

“Competing in the Big East-MAAC challenge will provide ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s esports program – and our Rocket League team – with even greater exposure, both regionally and nationally,” said Director of Recreation Eli Olken-Dann. “The fact we are entering this tournament as the #2 seed is a testament to how far we have come in a very short amount of time.” 

Participating teams for the Big East are Butler University, DePaul University, Creighton University, Marquette University, St. John’s University, Seton Hall University, and Xavier University.

MAAC participants are ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University, Marist College, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, and Siena College. This is ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s first season competing in the MAAC.

“[¼â½ÐÊÓƵ's] Rocket League team has really trained vigorously to get to where they are right now. Given the current circumstances of this pandemic, this team has really gone above and beyond my expectations for our first-year goals. Our only loss comes from a tough game from Marist, who is currently sitting at first place. Our team is ready. It’s ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ's time now to be recognized and bring home a championship trophy,” said advisor and program coordinator Ethan Godfrey.
