The Stags open their home schedule with two games on campus this weekend.
A goal from Luzi Persiehl ’22 less than two minutes into overtime completed an improbable comeback as ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Field Hockey upset #13 Boston College, 3-2, this past Sunday in Newton, Mass. The Stags were held scoreless for the first three quarters before starting their furious rally to upend the nationally-ranked Eagles.
Starting the Stags on the comeback trail were rookie Julianna Kratz ’23 and Page Lowry ’23, who each scored a goal in the fourth quarter. Goalkeeper Zoe Rosen ‘21 kept ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ in the game and helped facilitate the rally with a career-high 14 saves in the cage.
"I am proud of this team," 25th-year head coach Jackie Kane ’87 said after the victory. "We are young and hungry, and that showed this afternoon. This team is tight as a unit on and off the field. We showed that with our tough defense and our refusal to give in or give up."
The Stags (1-1) will carry the momentum of the win into the start of the 2019 home schedule. ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ hosts Vermont on University Field on Friday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. and welcomes Saint Francis on Sunday, Sept. 8 at noon. Admission is free to all home field hockey games this season.
