...it is not only the four-year, on-campus experience that counts. It is the support we have for each other for the next forty years.

Student-athletes, parents, and friends came together to celebrate ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s Men’s Basketball and Soccer teams during two recent Friends events.

The Friends of Men’s Basketball reception was held on Friday, April 27 at the Kelley Center. Eighty-five alumni, family, friends, and student-athletes attended to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of the senior class, and to give a special thank you to season ticket holders, supporters, and mentors of student-athletes for their loyalty in supporting the program. Men’s Basketball Head Coach Sydney Johnson shared his appreciation for supporters, explaining that “it’s one thing to build a winning culture. It’s another to build a winning culture embedded with the values that our student-athletes hold to. When you support ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Men’s Basketball, you’re going to rally behind a team that is going to win and will represent our University well. Whether you attend our banquet, our games, or you see us out in the community, it’s clear to see.”

The achievements of the Men’s Soccer team were celebrated during a Friends celebration held on Saturday, April 28. With 55 alumni, family, friends, and student-athletes in attendance, the festivities began with a meet and greet at the Walsh Athletic Center where the 2017 MAAC Championship team was presented with their championship rings, and Men’s Soccer Head Coach Carl Rees explained the force behind their success. “The focus that elevates our Men's Soccer group above the rest is the fact that we believe it is not only the four-year, on-campus experience that counts. It is the support we have for each other for the next forty years.” The ring ceremony was followed by an exciting 6 v 6 alumni game and a post-game reception at the Levee.

For those who were unable to attend these events but would still like to support these Athletics programs, make a gift to Men’s Basketball or Men’s Soccer.
