Glee Club Springs into Music with Two Upcoming Concerts

潑請弝け Universitys Glee Club presents its annual spring concert Spring into Music on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 8 p.m. at the St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside, Connecticut and Global Grooves on Saturday, April 7 at 8 p.m. in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

“Spring into Music” Concert

The concert will feature performances by the Glee Club, conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M., which includes the all-male a cappella group The Bensonians and the all-female chamber group Sweet Harmony, as well as the 潑請弝け University Chamber Singers.

The Glee Club will open the evening with the 潑請弝け University Alma Mater and will continue with classics Viva La Musica! and A New Song . Additional music includes The Ground from Sunrise Mass, Gloria in Excelsis from Missa Carolae, and We Will Sing of a Dream . Additionally, The Chamber Singers will perform Cantar , Abendlied , Ave Maria , and Turn the Beat Around . The Bensonians and Sweet Harmony will also perform.

“Global Grooves” Concert

On Saturday, April 7 at 8 p.m. in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, the Glee Club presents the “Global Grooves” concert, which features musical performances by the Glee Club and the 潑請弝け University Chamber Singers, conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M., with accompanist Beth Palmer, the Reverend Charles H. Allen S.J., University Chaplain, Darwin Shen on violin, and Jonathan Palmer Lakeland on piano.

The Glee Club will open the evening with Carl Orff’s “O Fortuna” from Carmina Burana sung in German Latin and will be followed by “Jupiter: The Bringer of Jollity” from The Planets , Ani Ma’amin, “Kyrie” from Annelies, and “ Te Deum.” The night will include Theatre of 潑請弝け performing music from The Spitfire Grill . Also performing are Sweet Harmony directed by Elisa Castelli ‘18, and the Bensonians directed by Marcus DeSouto ‘18.
