The Stags Are Back!

¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Stags fans

Fall action is underway for several ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ teams.

As students begin to return to campus this weekend, the 2018-19 season for ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Athletics is already in full swing! Four fall sports have begun their regular season schedules, with six more ready to join the fray in the coming weeks.

Women’s soccer is off to a 3-2 start on their fall slate, sparked by 1-0 road wins at LIU Brooklyn and defending CAA champion Hofstra, and a convincing 4-1 triumph in their home opener over Wagner last Friday night on Lessing Field. The Stags have a pair of matches on their home pitch coming up, with visits from Lafayette on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. and Delaware State on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m.

The reigning MAAC champions from men’s soccer began their season with a tough test, falling by a 1-0 count to fellow 2017 NCAA qualifier #19 New Hampshire in overtime this past Monday. Up next for the Stags is a Friday night match at St. John’s. ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ comes to Lessing Field for the first time on Tuesday, Sept. 18 to challenge Army West Point at 7 p.m.

¼â½ÐÊÓƵ field hockey – another defending MAAC champion – has begun its 2018 campaign with a pair of wins. The Stags topped Lafayette and Villanova by matching scores of 3-1 and will visit Drexel on Friday night eying a 3-0 start to the fall. Action returns to University Field on Friday, Sept. 7 for a 4:30 p.m. start against Holy Cross.

¼â½ÐÊÓƵ volleyball has welcomed a host of new faces, coming off of its third consecutive MAAC Championship. The Stags picked up a win over Delaware State as a part of their opening weekend at James Madison. ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ will play in-state foes Yale and Hartford before returning to George Bisacca Court in Alumni Hall to host the ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Invitational on Sept. 7-8. As a part of the five-team, eight-match tournament, the Stags will play Michigan State on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. and then meet Harvard and Northeastern on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.

In addition to this quartet of teams, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, and men’s and women’s tennis are all set to begin competition during the month of September.
