Setting new standards as the modern, Jesuit Catholic University, ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University has seen great progress under President Mark R. Nemec, PhD over the last year. Change is apparent across the University. Under Dr. Nemec’s guidance, ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ has reorganized academic leadership, unveiled new and renovated facilities, and enhanced curricula to better meet the demand for advanced professional and graduate education. And support provided by the ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ community—students, alumni, parents, and friends—helped to make these achievements possible.
Over the past year, the University continued to recruit strong, innovative leaders who will be central to ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s rise. Following an extensive national search, Christine Siegel, PhD, will continue her role as provost of the University on a permanent basis beginning on July 1. Additionally, Walter Rankin, PhD, will continue as vice provost for Continuing and Professional Studies, where he has successfully developed innovative, hybrid, and online programs. Other noteworthy changes in academic leadership include the hiring of Richard Greenwald as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, who has completed his first year, and incoming dean of the School of Business, Zhan Li, DBA who will join the University in July.
As ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ welcomes our newest faculty and leaders, a number of major construction projects are also enhancing the campus landscape. Some of these projects include the state-of-the-art Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies, a new residence hall in the quad which is set to open in the fall of 2018, and the newly laid foundations for the Charles F. Dolan School of Business, on track for completion in the fall of 2019.
President Nemec also made it his mission to raise the University’s profile. The Class of 2022 proved to be the largest candidate pool to date with 11,351 applicants, yielding the largest incoming class ever, including 100 new Magis Scholars. University leadership also worked to increase ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s national scope, achieving a record number (21%) of Class of 2022 students from outside the Northeast.
