Enroll Now for Fall 2018 Open MINDS Institute

¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University’s Open MINDS Institute (OMI) is an innovative learning center for curious minds of all ages. Four new courses will be offered this fall, featuring weekly seminars and workshops guided by master professors.

Hailed as exploratory “classrooms without walls,” OMI courses run for five weeks and are held on campus. With no homework or tests, this is the kind of learning you always hoped for: pure educational enrichment! Enrollment is now open for these Fall 2018 course selections:

PILOBOLUS: Connecting With Balance

This Pilobolus exercise class is tailored to help seniors reconnect with their bodies and environment. Exercises in movement and balance will guide participants to maintain and improve balance, think creatively, and build community through social engagement.

  • Begins September 13 – Ends October 18, Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

EXPLORING PATHWAYS TOWARDS LIFE’S GOODNESS – A Spiritual Journey for the Faithful/Faithless

Join Rev. Gerry Blaszczak, S.J., director of ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s Center for Ignatian Spirituality, in a vitally important conversation about living a more meaningful life. Individuals of all faith [or non-faith] backgrounds, are welcome and encouraged to participate.

  • Begins October 2 – Ends October 30, Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

EXPLORING OPERA: Live From The Met for Beginners

This exploration of opera will introduce some essential works, including the most well-known melodies in the upcoming season of Live at the Met, and discuss why opera is – or is not – relevant today.

  • Begins October 4 – Ends November 1, Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Instructor: Erik Novoa

REVOLUTION & REVELATION: French Art in the 19 th Century

19th century Paris saw the rise and fall of a series of revolutionary art movements from Neoclassicism to Post-Impressionism. This series of dynamic lectures will examine works from J.L. David to Matisse, and from Ingres to Cezanne.

  • Begins October 17 – Ends November 14, Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
