Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Hosts Alumnae Panel, Feb. 23

¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University’s Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies program is hosting an Alumnae Panel on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the DiMenna-Nyselius Library Multi-Media Room as part of the program’s roster of Women’s History Month events. The five featured panelists will discuss their transition from college to career and how a minor in the program assisted them in achieving their professional goals.

From talent managers to teachers, the panelists represent a wide range of careers. They include Sarah Krikorian BA '14 MA '15, an English and ethics teacher at Bridgeport Military Academy; Reagen Smith '03, a talent management director at Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits; Marissa Tota '12, an associate for the Franchise New Business Team at Goldman Sachs; Lindsay Wrinn BA '14 MA '15, a Darien Public Schools teacher; and Carolyn Zoppi '11, a psychotherapist at Costal Connecticut Counseling.

“Each panelist is a success story, and we are eager to hear them discuss the ways in which their study in this area has helped them prepare for and navigate the workforce,” said Emily Orlando, PhD, Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program Director and Associate Professor of English. “This is a wonderful event for prospective minors and a terrific networking opportunity for current students to connect with very successful ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ alumni.”

In addition to discussing the many ways the minor can increase students’ marketability and employability, the panel aims to address a wide range of topics relevant to women in the workforce including salary negotiation, sexual harassment, maternity leave, interview dress code and what it is like to work in a male-dominated profession.
