The Dolan School Receives Reaccreditation by the AACSB

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB) has announced that it is maintaining its accreditation of the Dolan School of Business for the next five years. This accreditation represents the highest standard of excellence in business education worldwide.

AACSB commends each institution for their exemplary work in holding the highest honor in business school accreditation, said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. During this peer-review process schools must demonstrate alignment with AACSBs global accreditation standards, as well as how they encourage engagement, innovation, and impact across the communities they serve.

AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business schools. As required by AACSB standards, all accredited schools must go through a peer review every five years in order to maintain their accreditation. During this review process schools focus on developing and implementing standards that require excellence in areas including strategic management and innovation and academic and professional engagement.

Don Gibson, PhD, dean of the Dolan School said this is an important stamp of approval for our growing programs and initiatives, and we congratulate our faculty, students and alumni on this accomplishment. I was pleased that the visiting peer review team emphasized that from all members of our community they heard about our unique identity as a Jesuit business school valuing our students as whole persons.

In its recommendation of accreditation to the AACSB, the on-site peer review team highlightedthe "innovative environment for new programs and learning, strong engagement with the business community and impact of faculty research and teaching. The team, made up of deans of AACSB business schools, concluded their report by noting, The visiting team members are all enthusiastic about the state of [the Dolan School]. The alignment among faculty, staff, and leadership is impressive. They know their mission. They share common student-centered values, pursue research that generates new knowledge, and have a positive impact on the lives of students and the community at large.

The AACSB, which was founded in 1916, is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees in business. The Dolan School has been accredited by the AACSB since 1977.
