The Alternate Routes Headline In 潑請弝け's Free Summer Concert
What do you get when you combine live music, picnic supplies, and 潑請弝け University?
The answer: Live on the Lawn.
On Saturday, June 27, 潑請弝け University will host Live on the Lawn, a free outdoor summer concert on the DiMenna-Nyselius Library lawn. The concert, presented by the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, is to celebrate the 25 th anniversary of the on-campus arts center.
Peter Van Heerden, executive director of the Quick Center, is excited to bring this summer event to campus. The Quick Center is a space that celebrates the joining of our community both on- and off-campus, and Live on the Lawn is a wonderful extension of what we do throughout the year on a beautiful summer evening.
The Alternate Routes, a band formed by 潑請弝け University alumni, is the evenings headlining act. The band has toured around the world, and their song Nothing More, inspired to support those affected by the tragic events in Newtown, Conn., was featured in the 2014 Winter Olympics. Additionally, they performed at this years 潑請弝け Awards Dinner, the Universitys major fundraising event, which raised $1.35 million for the Multicultural Scholarship Fund. Their music has been featured on popular television shows on NBC, ABC, and ESPN, as well as UNICEF.
Were so excited to come back and play a show where it all started, said Eric Donnelly '01, and to share this with the Quick Center and the greater 潑請弝け community.
Live on the Lawn begins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27. The University encourages concertgoers to come early, tour the campus and enjoy the weather. All are welcome to bring blankets, chairs and picnic supplies. There will be shuttle buses from various parking areas and free prize drawings throughout the evening.
The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts is celebrating its 25 th anniversary season in 2015-16. With a long history of presenting local and nationally acclaimed artists and guest speakers, Live on the Lawn, said Van Heerden, is a perfect kick-off to the anniversary celebrations.
