Emmy Award-Winning Journalist Charlie Rose at the Quick Center Jan. 24

The Quick Center’s 25 th Anniversary celebration continues with an afternoon of conversation and behind the scene views of The World Today and a private lunch with Emmy Award-winning CBS News journalist, Charlie Rose, Sunday, January 24, 2016.

The special Open VISIONS Forum begins at 12:30 p.m. with a private lunch reception with Charlie Rose, sponsored by the Artisan at Delamar Southport and continues with celebratory cocktails and a toast to Mr. Rose at 1:30 p.m. at the Quick Center Walsh Gallery. At 3:00 p.m. the program will begin with special guest interviewer Faith Middleton of Connecticut Public Radio, and frequent contributor to NPR, and moderator Phil Eliasoph, PhD, founder and director of the Open VISIONS Forum.

“Whether we’re just opening our sleepy eyes along with CBS This Morning or tuning into his animated PBS Charlie Rose interviews, nobody offers more credible substance and smart questioning as the earth spins 24 hours than our guest,” noted Dr. Eliasoph. “How often has each of us watched him spur, cajole and press a dodging world leader, celebrated entertainer or best-selling author, landing just the right punch in his animated tête-á-têtes? It’s going to be a memorable evening as Faith Middleton and I get to interview America’s greatest interviewer live on the Quick Center stage!”

Acclaimed interviewer and broadcast journalist Charlie Rose began his full-time career in television news in 1974 as managing editor of Bill Moyers’ International Report on PBS. Since then he has gone on to engage an extraordinary range of thought leaders, writers, politicians, athletes, entertainers, business leaders, scientists and newsmakers from across our nation and the globe in one-on-one interviews and roundtable discussions on PBS, Bloomberg Television and CBS News as co-anchor of CBS This Morning and as a contributing correspondent on 60 Minutes. In addition to interviewing American presidents, Rose has profiled Syrian president Bashar al-Assad and most recently he traveled to Moscow to interview Russian president Vladimir Putin, which was the reason for the cancellation of his originally scheduled Open VISIONS Forum in September. You can see Rose’s interview on 60 Minutes .

“The Quick Center is delighted to host Charlie Rose,” said Peter Van Heerden, executive director of the Quick Center. “The event promises to be an insightful look at the world today through the eyes of Mr. Rose, as we invite community and patrons to join us in celebrating the Quick Center for the Arts.”

Celebration tickets are available through the Quick Center Box Office at 203-254-4010 or toll free at 1-877-ARTS-396 / (1-877-278-7396).

Proceeds benefit the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts Education and Outreach Fund, enabling youth and families to engage and share in Quick Center performances, classes and workshops. Charitable giving accounts for 75% of the Quick Center's annual budget and makes programming at the Quick Center possible.
