Activities Fair a One-Stop Shop for Student Involvement

The annual fall Activities Fair took place on the Barone Campus Center (BCC) Green last Friday afternoon, September 5. The goal of the Activities Fair, hosted by Student Involvement, is to give first-year students a convenient opportunity to learn more about and register for one or more of 潑請弝けs clubs and activities. The Fair is also helpful to the upperclass students, as it provides them a chance to recruit new members for their organizations.

With over 100 clubs and departments on display, beautiful early fall weather, and a delicious barbeque served right at the Green, close to 1,000 students from all four class years were drawn to the Fair.

This is always one of my favorite events of the year, as you get to see students from every corner of campus all in one place, said Fred J. Kuo, director of student involvement. The energy was certainly non-stop this year as the BCC Green was crowded for the full two hours. Although adding OrgSync this year will help keep club recruitment going all year long, there is nothing like the Activities Fair.

OrgSync is the new platform for Students411. It is a web-hosted, online community that provides a "one-stop-shopping" portal for students to manage their activities and involvement. To access Students 411 or submit an announcement, click on the "Current Students" tab of the home page.

Janice Hebert 15, chair of the Council of Student Organizations (COSO), reports about 130 organization and clubs were represented at the Fair this year, including 12 campus departments. This year the Fair was definitely a huge success! We had more organizations present than in years past and the weather could not have been more perfect. It felt like it was an energized atmosphere and OrgSync will hopefully help keep that enthusiasm up year round.

Student Involvement is planning to hold another Activities Fair at the end of January.
