潑請弝け to host Veteran's Day War Writing Symposia

Faculty, staff, students ,and the general public are invited to a Veterans Day War Writing Symposia, a free day of readings and discussions that will explore the various discourses of war. The event is sponsored by 潑請弝け Universitys MFA in Creative Writing, Core Writing, and the American Studies Program.

The program begins at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, and finishes with a 7 p.m. keynote speech, all in the Dolan School of Business Dining Room.

Six writers will take part in four panel discussions about writing about war: Writing the War Using Literature to Triangulate History (1-2 p.m.); Civilians Writing War (2:15-3:15 p.m.); Veterans Writing War (3:30-4:30 p.m.); Women Writing War (4:45-5:45 p.m.).

Participating writers are: Colin D. Halloran (pictured right), veteran, author of Shortly Thereafter , winner of the 2012 Main Street Rag Poetry Book Award; Michael White, director of the MFA in Creative Writing Program and author of six books, including Soul Catcher and The Garden of Martyrs ; Cara Hoffman, civilian, author of Be Safe I Love You ; Jen Percy, civilian, keynote speaker, author of Demon Camp , a nonfiction book about PTSD in America; Lauren Kay Halloran, veteran, winner of Glamour magazines ninth annual personal essay contest; and Dario DiBattista, veteran, author of Go Now, You Are Forgiven
