2020: Brandon Busteed of Gallup on Students of the Future, Nov. 19

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

3:30-4:30 pm – Oak Room – Barone Campus Center

Dr. Brandon Busteed, Executive Director of Education, Gallup Research

Next Wednesday, November 19, Dr. Brandon Busteed, executive director of education for Gallup Research, will discuss how universities should be preparing their graduates for after college and new developments in measuring college outcomes. Busteed leads the development of Gallup’s K-12 and higher education work. In his lecture, Busteed will provide an overview of the new Gallup-Purdue Index, which is linking the outcomes of the educational experiences of college students with their workplace engagement and post-graduation well-being.

Busteed's career spans a wide range of important work in education--as an educational entrepreneur, speaker, writer, and university trustee. He believes that since technology has made knowledge so ubiquitous, after college students need to compete in the marketplace not just with what they know, but with what they’ve done and their real-world skills.

A graduate of Duke University where he studied public policy, Busteed is a trustee-emeritus of Duke and also served on the Board of Visitors for the Sanford School of Public Policy. He is a nationally-known speaker and author on education policy and public health. His articles and commentaries have been featured in the New York Times , Wall Street Journal , Washington Post, USA Today , NPR and the Today Show among others.
