In less than a decade, BODYTRAFFIC has convincingly won over audiences throughout the country with its dynamic theatricality and fresh vitality as it commissions and performs works by todays most distinctive contemporary choreographers. The company was founded by Lillian Rose Barbeito and Tina Finkelman Berkett in 2007, and since that time, has helped establish Los Angeles as a major center for contemporary dance. Named Dance Magazine's 25 to Watch in 2013, theyoung company is constantly being recognized for its high quality of work. The New York Times Brian Seibert wrote in a June 2012 review: On Wednesday at the Joyce Theater the Gotham Dance Festival offered New York something that its dance audiences (and critics) rarely see: signs of life from the Los Angeles dance scene. And the Los Angeles Times Laura Bleiberg called BODYTRAFFIC one of the most talked-about young companies, not just in L.A. but nationwide.

The program for BODYTRAFFICs appearance at the Quick Center will feature Kollide (2013), by Kyle Abraham, the young award-winning choreographer, who was a 2013 MacArthur Fellow, 2012 Jacobs Pillow Dance Award recipient, and 2012 U.S.A. Ford Fellow. The work blends elements of ballet and hip hop in a fluid, sensual style, and was underwritten by Nathan and Karen Sandler. Also on the program is Richard Siegals o2Joy (2012), an exuberant homage to American jazz standards set to the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Glenn Miller, and other jazz greats. And the programs Beyond the Edge of the Frame (2013), is choreographed by Sidra Bell, currently a Master Lecturer at the University of the Arts (Philadelphia).

BODYTRAFFIC has performed throughout the United States and in Canada. In June 2012, the company made its Joyce Theater (NYC) debut; in September 2013, BODYTRAFFIC made its Walt Disney Concert Hall debut, at the Los Angeles Philharmonics Opening Night Gala performance conducted by Gustavo Dudamel; and, this past summer marked the companys Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival debut. Most recently, it presented two sold-out programs at Santa Monicas Broad Stage.
