IDEAS: ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ 2020 Lecturers Robert B. Archibald and David H. Feldman

All ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the upcoming lecture by Robert B. Archibald Ph.D. and David H. Feldman Ph.D. authors of Why Does College Cost So Much?. The lecture is free and will be held on Wednesday, April 16 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Barone Campus Center's Oak Room.

In their book, Why Does College Cost So Much? , faculty members at the College of William and Mary, Robert B. Archibald Ph.D., Chancellor Professor of Economics, and David H. Feldman, Ph.D., Professor of Economics and Department Chair bring enlightening perspectives about higher education.

Much of what is written about colleges and universities ties rapidly rising tuition to dysfunctional behavior in the academy. Common targets of dysfunction include prestige games among universities, gold plated amenities, and bloated administration. This book offers a different view. To explain rising college cost, the authors place the higher education industry firmly within the larger economic history of the United States. Bill Gates listed the Archibald/Feldman book among the "Best 7 Books I read in 2013."

This is the second lecture in the IDEAS: ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ 2020 Lecture Series being offered this spring in which thought-provoking perspectives will be shared with the ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University community from some of today's leading voices in higher education regarding the challenges and opportunities facing universities in the 21st century.
