Men's Swimming Downs NJIT

The ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University men's swimming and diving team downed NJIT 149-111 on Saturday Feb. 2 at the RecPlex.

The men's 200m medley relay of senior Paul Bimmler, Connor Daly, Cody Parker, and Tyler Conley started the meet by setting a program record with a winning time of 1:50.92. The previous record was 1:51.14 and was set in 2010.

Conley notched a win in the 50m butterfly with a time of 27.01 seconds. He also was the runner-up in the 100m butterfly with a time of 1:02.16. Bimmler captured the 200m IM with a time of 2:12.94 and was the runner-up in the 100m freestyle with a time of 54.01 seconds. Daly was also victorious in the 100m breaststroke with a personal best of 1:08.07.

Bimmler and Conley were also on the victorious 200m freestyle relay with Jay Cook and Rich Straub who all posted a time of 1:38.43 just over a second off the program standard.

Sophomore Chris Weaver captured two events on the day. He won the 50m backstroke with a time of 28.96 seconds and won the 100m back with a time of 1:02.93. He was also fourth in the 200m IM with a personal best of 2:22.38.

Junior Kevin Greener captured the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:20.09. Parker was the runner-up in the 50m free finishing with a time of 25.47 seconds and the runner-up in the 400m free with a time of 4:22.43. Freshman Nick Cannone was third in the 50m breaststroke with a time of 35.30 seconds while Brett Borgognone was fourth in the 200m free with a time of 2:06.29. Borgognone was also third in the 50m fly (28.27). Straub was third in the 50m free with a time of 26.18 seconds and third in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:10.76. Kyle Rozanitis was third in the 100m back with a mark of 1:08.04.

In the diving events, sophomore Evan Barr won the 3-meter with a score of 251.40 while Will Sullivan was the runner-up with 203.03 points. On the 1-meter, senior Ryan Krebs had a score of 212.47 to win the event while junior Brien Bates took second with a 210.60 and sophomore Joe Dowling took third with a mark of 185.78. Ashlee Steinberger ad a score of 229.50 on the 1-meter while on the 3-meter Demi Marathas posted a 190.80 and Lauren Kemple had a 203.55.

The women's team swam exhibition on Saturday afternoon. In the 200m freestyle, Meredith LaBerge clocked a time of 2:16.37. Jaimee Carrazza had the fasted women's time in the 50m back with a mark of 33.06 whileEmily Pedrickwas the fastest woman in the 50m breaststroke (38.36). Kelly Mulligan had a time of 1:10.00 in the 100m fly while Cacky Keating posted a time of 29.19 seconds in the 50m free. Lisa Tkach had a time of 1:06.60 in the 100m free while Katherine Kraus had a time of 1:15.93 in the 100m back. Liz Avery had a time of 1:25.06 in the 100m breaststroke while Margaret Osmulski clocked a time of 4:41.69 in the 400m free. Megan Kuzniewski was the fastest woman in the 50m fly (34.22) while Alyssa Acompora was the fastest in the 200m IM (2:39.83).

¼â½ÐÊÓƵ will head to the 2013 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships, February 14-16, at the Burt Flickinger Center in Buffalo, N.Y. Tickets for the event can be purchased via MAAC.Ticketleap.com.
