The Media Institute promotes engagement with global media industries by supporting creative media practice, academic scholarship, and public-facing events initiated bythe faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University community.  We seek to embolden and support on-campus journalism, storytelling, and production, as wellas the critical inquiry and social scientific study of film and television, broadcastcommunications and digital media within the College of Arts and Sciences, academic departments and student media organizations. We fulfill the University's mission by fostering connections beyond ¼â½ÐÊÓƵs campuses, encouraging thoughtful dialogues with media industries, and emphasizing student engagement.

Cinefest Student Film Festival

Each year, Cinefest celebrates the hard work and creative talents of ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s up-and-coming filmmakers by screening an impressive line-up of original short films and videos produced by undergraduate students in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts’ film, television, and media arts program.

Media Institute Grants

Each Fall and Spring semester, the Institute will fund multiple faculty and student-led initiatives with grants. Successful proposals may aim to create media on a specific platform (e.g. web, social media, film/ TV, podcast, etc.), critically engage with the media industries, or provide experiential learning opportunities.
